  16.               Set  attributes  and  values  for shell parameters.
  17.               When invoked inside a function a new  parameter  is
  18.               created  which will be unset when the function com-
  19.               pletes.  The new parameter  will  not  be  exported
  20.               unless  ALLEXPORT is set, in which case the parame-
  21.               ter will be exported provided no parameter of  that
  22.               name  already exists.  The following attributes are
  23.               valid:
  24.               -L     Left justify and remove leading blanks  from
  25.                      value.   If  n  is  nonzero,  it defines the
  26.                      width of the field; otherwise it  is  deter-
  27.                      mined by the width of the value of the first
  28.                      assignment.  When the parameter is  printed,
  29.                      it  is  filled  on  the right with blanks or
  30.                      truncated if necessary  to  fit  the  field.
  31.                      Leading  zeros are removed if the -Z flag is
  32.                      also set.
  33.               -R     Right justify and fill with leading  blanks.
  34.                      If  n is nonzero if defines the width of the
  35.                      field; otherwise it  is  determined  by  the
  36.                      width  of the value of the first assignment.
  37.                      When the parameter is printed, the field  is
  38.                      left  filled  with  blanks or truncated from
  39.                      the end.
  40.               -Z     Right justify and fill with leading zeros if
  41.                      the first non-blank character is a digit and
  42.                      the -L flag has  not  been  set.   If  n  is
  43.                      nonzero  it  defines the width of the field;
  44.                      otherwise it is determined by the  width  of
  45.                      the value of the first assignment.
  46.               -f     The  names  refer  to  functions rather than
  47.                      parameters.  No assignments can be made, and
  48.                      the  only  other  valid flags are -t and -u.
  49.                      The flag -t turns on execution  tracing  for
  50.                      this  function.   The  flag  -u  causes this
  51.                      function to be marked for autoloading.   The
  52.                      fpath parameter will be searched to find the
  53.                      function definition  when  the  function  is
  54.                      first referenced.
  55.               -i     Use  an internal integer representation.  If
  56.                      n is nonzero it defines  the  output  arith-
  57.                      metic  base,  otherwise  it is determined by
  58.                      the first assignment.
  59.               -l     Convert to lower case.
  60.               -r     The given names are marked readonly.
  61.               -t     Tags the named  parameters.   Tags  have  no
  62.                      special meaning to the shell.
  63.               -u     Convert to upper case.
  64.               -x     Mark for automatic export to the environment
  65.                      of subsequently executed commands.

  67.               Using + rather than - causes these flags to be
  68.               turned off.
  69.               If no arguments are given but flags are  specified,
  70.               a  list  of named parameters which have these flags
  71.               set is printed.  Using + instead of -  keeps  their
  72.               values  from  being  printed.   If  no arguments or
  73.               options are given, the names and attributes of  all
  74.               parameters  are  printed.  If  only  the -m flag is
  75.               given the arguments are taken as  patterns  (should
  76.               be  quoted)  and  all parameters or functions (with
  77.               the -f flag) with matching names are printed.
